JADE

During Summer 2021, I had the honor to work on the website for a new nonprofit, that is being launched by some activist friends of mine. The goal is to create an organization that uplifts the disabled community in academia. Our hope is that the website will add to our legitimacy and aid in our acquisition of a trademark, and eventual NGO status. As of now, we are bootstrapping this launch, with very few resources. I created the entire site on a very low budget, coding most of it by hand in html and css, and hosting it for free on github pages. The only thing we pay for is the domain registry for jadeassoc.org.

Unfortunately, in the time since I have been in school, it seems like JADE may have collapsed under its own weight. At our height, we had an active Discord with hundreds of members spanning the entire UC system. We expanded very quickly, but in the midst of it, it became difficult to tell who was doing what, what still needed to be done, and how we should formulate a proper organization. As of 2023 the official discord has been quiet for over a year, and I have received no further instructions on what to do with the site. That is not to say nothing good came from it, though. JADE formed a strong a network of mutual support and resource sharing that continues to help UC students access accommodations to this day.
